Jacksonville Courthouse & Annex

Home / Demolition Hazardous Material Abatement / Jacksonville Courthouse & Annex

Scope of Work:

Alloy Group was contracted by the City of Jacksonville, Florida for the abatement and demolition of both the Courthouse and City Hall Annex. The Courthouse, a 370,000 sqft building and the City Hall Annex , a 16-story building both required abatement prior to the full structural demolition of the buildings. At the Courthouse our team used traditional methods of demolition. Utilizing our fleet of excavators, including our Volvo 700 Ultra Highreach excavator to

systematically dismantle the 7-story concrete and steel structure. Due to its size, the City Hall Annex required an implosion method to bring down the building. Alloy contracted Controlled Demolition Inc. as our explosives sub-contractor to safely bring the structure down. This project came with its challenges. One of those being the location, both buildings are located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, FL, right on the St. John River, making noise and dust a major safety priority for our team. In addition to location, this project had a rigorous schedule that required our team to complete the abatement and demolition within the required 240 days.
